Resources for Readers

I've decided not to review books I've read on this blog mainly because I feel authors should only encourage each other. Whenever one author succeeds it is a step forward for all, so I feel no need to announce when I feel there's been a misstep or a story that just didn't deliver. That said, I do believe word of mouth is the best way to drum up interest, and as a book pusher in my personal life, I felt I would spotlight some here on their own page. Again, there is no order of preference this is simply a list of those I frequent.

  • (un)Conventional Book Views is first and okay, I may be a little partial to this one. I met the dear Lexxie as part of a fandom a few years (!) ago, and we have been partners in crime ever since. Our lovefest predates blogs and novels and is based in the strongest of foundations, that of the obsessive reader. We have agreed to disagree on a handful of books, but by and large we tussle regularly over book boyfriends and have similar tastes.
  • The Midnight Garden has Wendy Darling, with excellent, in depth reviews available. Wendy's following speaks for itself, there is little I can add to her reputation.
  • The Irish Banana Review is Hannah McBride, whom I met at BEA this year in line for the Harlequin signing. Hannah was lovely and very helpful to some who were not as familiar with the ins and outs of BEA.
  • Parajunkee is a great review site for speculative fiction, to which I'm partial, but she also hosts blog tours and giveaways.
  • JC'S Book Haven is another blog for paranormal, urban fantasy, dystopian and horror/thrillers. She also runs a meme called Sidekick Saturday where we can show our love for the supporting characters in our favorite books.
  • The YA Sisterhood is a fabulous, fun blog. Reviews from real life and honorary sisters, it is also home to the YA Crush Tourney and in 2013, the first annual NA Crush Tourney.
  • YA Misfits is a slightly different blog.  Shared by YA writers, it brings all the news in YA from writers, agents, editors right to you.
So that's my list. I'm sure I've missed some truly fabulous blogs out there so please feel free to leave them in the comments!
